Chance Muehleck
A stubborn IRS agent uncovers a nasty conspiracy when he tries to collect taxes
from an unusual client in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Welcome to the world of
madrigal
Charles Combs lives in a world where most of our government has been wiped out by nuclear war. This has created a power vacuum where agencies like the Postal Service and the IRS vie for control over a dwindling population. Even worse, the Postmaster General and acting U.S. President has gone missing!
But Combs isn’t one to let a little thing like the apocalypse stand between him and his job...
The idea sprang from a story I read about actual plans for “Continuity of Government.” Turns out that during the 1970s and ‘80s, our elected officials thought it’d be a good idea if the IRS continued to collect taxes from people after the bombs dropped. To paraphrase a popular social justice chant: This is what bureaucracy looks like!
A full-color graphic novel is on its way.
